The cannabis plant contains over 60 unique chemical compounds known as cannabinoids. CBD, or cannabidiol, is becoming widely used for its therapeutic effects. Unlike THC, its more famous cannabinoid cousin, CBD does not cause a “high” or “stoned” feeling.
Full-spectrum extract is the least processed extraction of hemp cannabinoids in the rawest form, containing a full spectrum of compounds not limited to but including terpenes, flavonoids, chlorophylls and enzymes (as opposed to isolate which contains only CBD). Full-spectrum products are said to be more effective as all of the cannabinoids work together to create an "entourage effect" in the body.
Clinical studies have shown that CBD could be beneficial for many health conditions including anxiety, chronic pain, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, sleep disorders, PTSD and epilepsy—to name just a few!
Each person’s unique body processes and metabolizes things differently. The suggested use on the product label is a good starting point; however, we recommend that you talk to your healthcare provider for a more precise recommendation. You can also check out these helpful dosing guidelines.
If you take the oil sublingually, the capillaries in the mucous membranes in your mouth will absorb the compounds in the oil. This allows you to feel the effects more quickly than if you simply swallowed it. To use this method, hold the oil under your tongue for 30-60 seconds, then swallow.
You can also add the oil to food or drink or just swallow it straight! Keep in mind that it may take longer to feel the effects this way.
While both are made with the same full-spectrum extract and olive oil, the effects are sometimes experienced differently. When taken sublingually, the effects of the oil are generally felt more quickly. The effects from the capsules come on more slowly but they tend to last longer in the body, making them suitable for conditions that require a steady dose of medicine throughout the day.
Unfortunately, it is possible to fail a drug test if you are taking full-spectrum CBD supplements due to the trace amounts of THC.
From our friends at Sugarleaf Labs: "We use super-cold non-GMO sugar cane ethanol in a type of centrifuge to extract the raw hemp CBD oil. Then we use a set of filtering techniques to purify the oil to a state that is pure enough to work with for downstream products. Once in that state, we can then further extract it with other methods, such as short path distillation, where we bring the raw extraction to a high temperature under vacuum and fractionate or break out the more concentrated cannabinoids into a high-quality golden oil."
